Some opponents don’t want any development in Kākā Valley – but forothers the issue is not so clear-cut.

Backers say the proposed Kākā Valley development fills a need for housing in Nelson.A syndicate of two companies is behind the proposed development, but Andrew Spittal, a director of the Maitai Development Co, which owns the Kākā site, did not want to comment for this story. When the company lodged its bid for a plan change for the development in April, it included 10 technical reports, ranging from visual amenity to stormwater, geotechnical and transport, outlining the effects and benefits of the project…”
